These days, it is most commonly found in small, steel cartridges sold to the catering industry for making whipped cream. Laughing gas, otherwise known as nitrous oxide, has been used as an anaesthetic since the 19th century. Results suggested the air temperature could be around -94☌, but researchers think that the dry air around the area could cause temperatures to get even colder. The reading was collected using data from satellites across Dome Argus and Dome Fuji, two ice domes that sit at thousands of metres above sea level. This measurement means the plateau is the coldest place on Earth – not that anyone was actually there to record such a temperature, though. The coldest temperature ever recorded was a frosty -94☌, taken at the East Antarctic plateau, a region that stretches for more than 1000 kilometres. The East Antarctic plateau is the coldest place on Earth

But HSAM has been identified in fewer than 100 people worldwide, and while their memories are exceptional, they still aren’t as reliable as photographs. For example, they may be able to tell you what they ate for lunch on and what day of the week it was (Saturday).

However, there is a condition called Highly Superior Autobiographical Memory (HSAM) that allows people to recall past events in detail, along with the exact dates when they occurred. Although many people claim they have it, we still don’t have proof that photographic memory actually exists.

It’s really weird the way my brain just retrieves the most random knowledge out of nowhere- but god help me if I don’t have to pull the box for my TV dinner out of the trash 3 separate times to check how long to microwave the same meal I’ve microwaved literally (and sadly, but decisions are hard) 1,000 times before.Photographic memory is the ability to recall a past scene in detail with great accuracy – just like a photo. In the same breath as I’m telling a friend that I haven’t looked at property law since my first year of law school, I also start spouting off landlord-tenant law without even realizing that I knew what I’m talking about. I can’t remember why I walked into the kitchen 5 minutes ago, but the second my boss tries to cover his ass and throw me or someone else under the bus saying that his direction was X, I can immediately recount the exact almost verbatim conversation my boss and I had months ago when we were in This place with These people, and he said “A”, to which I replied “B and C”, then he said “D”, E and F”.

That being said-I’ve always called my memory a “photographic” memory- I don’t know what else to call it, despite no images being associated with my memory. I always thought having a photographic memory was a figure of speech! Or, like, why count sheep and not just, you know, count? Like, am I supposed to just lay here saying to myself (despite also not having an “audible” internal voice either), “one sheep, two sheep, three sheep”? Oh, it’s because people actually form an actual image of sheep in their heads that they can count?! Mind blown. I didn’t even realize that people could form actual images in their mind until I learned about aphantasia and discovered that I’m the weird one lol. I have complete aphantasia- zero visual imagery at all. I didn’t read the article, but I assume it’s about aphantasia.
